Missed calls get a text back and a real conversation
When a call goes unanswered, the AI agent texts the caller right away, finds out what they need, answers in the same thread and books the appointment. Your team sees a lead in the CRM with the whole conversation, not a missed call in the log.
Hi, this is Summit Roofing. Sorry we missed your call. How can we help?
Need someone to look at a leak over the garage.
We can send an inspector tomorrow at 9 AM or 1 PM. Which works better?
1 PM is good.

What happens after a missed call
- 01
A text right away
The caller gets a text from your business number before they dial the next company.
- 02
A conversation, not a template
The agent answers questions in the thread from your knowledge base.
- 03
Booking
Offers open times and confirms the appointment by text.
- 04
A callback when needed
If the caller would rather talk, the voice agent calls back.
- 05
Everything in your CRM
Contact, request and the full thread land on the lead record.
Why missed call text back works
People who reach voicemail rarely leave a message. They call the next business on the list. A text in the first minute keeps the conversation with you, and a text is easy to answer from a job site or a meeting.
Missed call text back software vs an AI agent
Most missed call text back software sends one template, then the reply waits for someone on your team. The AXIS agent reads the reply, answers it, asks the next question and books the job. Your team joins when the request needs a person.
How to respond to a missed call by text
Keep the first text short, sign it with your business name and end with a question. Offer two specific times instead of asking when they are free. Confirm the booking in the same thread. The agent follows these rules on every missed call, nights and weekends included.
How it is set up
Setup connects the agent to the systems you already run and teaches it your services.
- Connects to Twilio, RingCentral, Zoom Phone, Dialpad, Nextiva, 8x8 or Microsoft Teams Phone
- Texts go out from your business number
- CRM: Kommo and Bitrix24 ready, or connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Zoho or Pipedrive
- Script and knowledge base for your services
- Rules for when a lead goes to a person
Texting and calling rules
The agent texts people who just called you and answers what they asked. Marketing texts are a separate case: under the TCPA they need the person's consent, and a STOP reply takes the number out of every campaign.
Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), calls that use an artificial or prerecorded voice need the prior express consent of the person called. In February 2024 the FCC confirmed that AI-generated voices fall under that rule. That matters for voice callbacks. This is a summary of the rules, not legal advice.

Case studies
All case studies in this industryFrequently asked questions
What is missed call text back?
An automatic text sent to someone whose call your business did not answer. With AXIS the text starts a conversation: the agent answers questions, books the appointment and logs the lead in your CRM.
Which number does the text come from?
From your business number on your phone system, so the customer sees the same company they called.
Does it work with GoHighLevel?
AXIS connects to GoHighLevel as your CRM: the lead, the thread and the booking land there. Kommo and Bitrix24 are ready integrations, and other CRMs connect during setup.
What if the caller wants to talk to a person?
The agent passes the thread to the right person on your team with a summary, so the customer does not have to explain it again.
How much does it cost?
Text assistant setup starts at $590 and voice assistant setup at $1,450, both one-time. Voice conversations cost $0.12–0.18 per minute, billed on actual usage.
